A section of tenants in Makina Estate of Kibera are appealing for the repair of a blocked water pipe that has denied them the essential service for days.
They say the situation has made them spend more on buying water buying which has turned to be quite expensive for them in the last four days.
“The blockage of the water tap since Friday has made us spend more to buy water and yet we have paid water bills for the previous month, a 20-litre water container Sh5 and in a day we spend like Sh40 to Sh50 to buy water for domestic use only,” says Margret Omari an area resident.
She further said that they are not able to fetch rain water when it rains due to the poor construction of houses to harvest rain water which could have eliminated the ned to buy water.
They are requesting the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company officials to speed up the repair so that they can resume normal operations and reduce their daily expenses.
