Speaking in Makongeni Shopping Centre on Tuesday, Muthoni said that the facelift will involve expanding the road and repairing the potholes that have made transport along the road especially on rainy season a nightmare.

Muthoni also noted that some parts of the road were so narrow that when vehicles coming from opposite directions meet at certain points one of them had to stop to give way for the other to pass.

"It is good news to all of us because we know how hectic transport has been along the road. Kiganjo population has increased drastically and the road has become insufficient for residents’ needs," said Muthoni.

The MCA further noted that the road had been made busier by the entry of bodaboda motorcycles which have become a preferred mode of transport by many residents.

She also promised that works to repair various feeder roads that were damaged during the just ended El~Nino rains will begin soon.
