Business owners and residents in Makongeni, Kiganjo, Kisii, Kiang'ombe and other estates in Kamenu Ward have been asked to be vigilant and report criminals living among them.
Makongeni OCS Samuel Khisa, speaking at Kiganjo Shopping Centre on Thursday after attending a security meeting in Thika Town, asked the residents and businesspeople to stay alert noting that crime in the area increases during the festivities.
"Business and house break-ins happen to increase everywhere around this time and we all know why. With this fact in mind therefore, we need to keep watch when doing our business and when we are in or out of our houses," said Khisa.
He said that all residents in the area must be ready to co-operate with their Nyumba Kumi clusters as well as the Police to be able to deter crime. The OCS said that they and other security agents have already laid down a comprehensive plan to curb crime throughout the festive season.
"Criminals won't have it easy this time round because we are ready. Let them be warned", he said.
Khisa announced that they are also planning to call a security meeting soon with the business community in the area to discuss how they can keep their businesses safer during the festive seasons.
