Residents of Makongeni Phase four just opposite St Matia Mulumba Catholic Church have decried of a faulty sewer line that has been overflowing for the last two weeks.
They are now fearing that water-borne diseases may break-out anytime considering that heavy rains continue to hit the area.
According to the estate's Nyumba Kumi Chairman Dominic Mwangi, their frantic efforts to have Thika Water and Sewerage Company (Thiwasco) come and rectify the faulty sewer line have bore no fruits.
"For the past two weeks we have been trying to reach out to Thiwasco field officers to come and assist us in having the sewer line repaired but so far nothing has been done. They always that they are on the way," said Mwangi.
Mwangi says that the raw sewage has been left to meander to residents' compounds putting them at a huge risk of contracting diseases.
Rose Wambui, a resident says that she is worried that her three kids could be among the first victims seeing that sometimes they play in the sewer unaware of dangers it poses to them.
"I just hope that they can come immediately and help fix this mess for the sake of our children," said Wambui.
Thiwasco field officers could not be reached for comment as their phones went unanswered.
