Speaking in Makongeni to a group of youths near Madaraka Market on Thursday, Waiguru also cautioned them against indulging in alcohol in the New Year's eve saying they should take the time to plan for the new year.

"For me today should be the time to think seriously what you want to do with the new year. Don't just get to the new year blank and without a plan. It is no time to engage in sexual immoralities and binge drinking," said Waiguru.

The chief also called on those who will be attending night 'keshas' not to use them to do immoralities.

"If you are going to the church to celebrate the new year, just do that. Don't loiter around or go for other clandestine activities," he said.

He wished all residents a happy new year while urging them to continue cooperating with his office on matters involving administration and order in the location. "We had a good cooperation with residents this year and I am hoping that spirit will even be stronger in the days to come," Waiguru said.
