Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala has asked Makueni County leaders to find alternative solutions to their political differences.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday at Kola trading centre, Kiala said that issues facing Makueni County can be addressed through dialogue. He asked leaders in the county to put their political interests and differences aside and strive to work together.
“I am appealing to Makueni leaders to work together and end wrangles between them for the sake of the people,” he said.
The Deputy Governor indicated that disbanding the county government would not be a solution saying that Makueni people are in need of services.
He added that it would be expensive to conduct fresh elections observing that the money for elections can be used to benefit the people.
Kiala also called on leaders in the larger Ukambani leaders to work together and promote development.
He stated that continuous wrangles over leadership would help adding that they should take advantage of devolution to promote development.
The Deputy Governor said that unity is critical towards any development in the Ukambani region.
He called on MCAs in Ukambani to formulate laws and policies that will improve the living standards of the people.
