Mutula said the handshake should bring forth unity and development in the two neighboring counties.

She said several handshakes taking place across the country are credible for ethnic and tribal unity.

"A handshake is a sign of peace and reconciliation, we hope for the two governors will bring unity to our community," Mutula said.

She urged the three governors from Ukambani region to work together so as to deliver development to the residents.

Mbula, however, insisted that the calls for constitutional amendments were misplaced stating they are meant to benefit a few individuals while the local 'mwananchi' languish in poverty due to lack of jobs.

Her sentiments come days after the two governors pledged to work together for the benefit of the common 'mwananchi'.

Governor Kibwana said Mutua should be allowed to vie for the presidency without hindrance as a constitutional right.
