Makueni nominated MCA Linnet Mbula has asked Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua to shelve his 2022 presidential bid.
Mbula said Mutua’s bid is a plot to spoil for Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who is also eyeing the top seat in 2022 polls.
Addressing the press in Makueni town on Thursday, the vocal Wiper county legislature said Mutua’s presidential bid will not sale out and that he should give Kalonzo space to contest for the top seat.
“For the sake of Ukambani unity, Governor Mutua should consider dropping his presidential bid in support of Kalonzo Musyoka,” Mbula said.
Mbula said Ukambani has to move in unity in order to ascend to top leadership.
She noted that Kalonzo is more experienced hence it would be better if Mutua gives him a chance first.
Mbula said Kalonzo is Mutua’s political teacher and as such, the Machakos governor has to give him space.
She warned that Ukambani will lose in 2022 if its politicians refuse to unite and work together.
Both Kalonzo and Mutua have declared interests in the presidential seat expressing confidence of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Last week, Kalonzo’s bid received a major boost after a section of Kamba leaders endorsed him for the seat.
Governor Mutua has since rubbished the endorsement terming it fake and meant to mislead Ukambani residents and Kenyans at large.
Governor Mutua has embarked on countrywide tour to market his 2022 presidential bid.
Last week, he was on a four day tour of Nyeri County, he is currently touring Kakamega County .
Mutua argues that he is the best suited candidate to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
