Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has called for the dissolution of National Youth Service (NYS).
Kilonzo said the institution should be gotten rid of so as to curb looting of public funds.
He claimed the institution meant to provide critical services to Kenyans had been turned into a conduit to siphon public funds and resources undeterred.
"My view is that NYS should be disbanded and run by the Ministry of Devolution because it has failed this country so many times," Kilonzo said.
Kilonzo further faulted the anti-corruption agencies for hesitating to jail the looters in the institution.
The department has been rocked by corruption since its inception. It lost Sh791 million in 2013 when the current Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru, was at the helm.
Recently, another scandal of Sh9 billion was reported that saw Public Service Principal Secretary Lillian Omollo and NYS Director-General Richard Ndubai step aside for investigations.
