Makwa Health Centre in Chania Ward, Gatundu North restarted its operations after it was recently revived by the Kiambu county government from its long closure.

Speaking to journalists yesterday at the health centre during the selection of board members who will be in charge of the facility, area MCA Ng'ang'a Muthua annouced that plans were underway to open a maternity ward.

"The health centre will now serve people from here in Makwa, Gituamba and Chania. It has been in and out of operation but now with this new board we are guaranteed of continuity. There are 11 maternities set to be opened within Kiambu County in a model designed by Philips International and Makwa is among them,” said Muthua.

Gabriel Kinoru who was selected to be the board Chairman asked the area residents to join hands with the board to take the facility to the next level.

“This is a community project and I would urge you we come together as one to support this health centre to ensure it does not collapse again", said Kinoru after his inauguration.
