Two leaders from the former Western province have told Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart, Moses Wetangula to retire from politics because they are 'old'.
Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said on Sunday that Mudavadi and Wetangula have been in politics for too long and they should consider doing "what is honourable"- retire and pave way for young and energetic people from the region to take over leadership.
Speaking in Kakamega town, they said Mudavadi and Wetangula don't even control the entire Luhya community vote and should thus stop mudslinging opposition leader Raila Odinga.
"Mudavadi and Wetangula have been in leadership for decades and have nothing to boast off as leaders from Western," Malala said.
"They were vice presidents and cabinet ministers. But is there anything to show that they were once leaders?"
Sifuna on his part told Wetangula to swallow a humble pie and apologize to NASA Senators for his disrespect for them at the Senate.
The Senators last week ousted the Bungoma Senator from his Senate Minority seat and replaced him with Siaya Senator James Orengo.
Wetangula and Mudavadi held a series of rallies in Vihiga, Kakamega and Bungoma telling off Rails who they accused of perpetuating Wetangula's troubles in NASA.
