Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has complained about malicious people he said were trying to litter Nairobi to frustrate his leadership.

Sonko said there is an emerging trend where people dump garbage on roadsides, open streets, and other areas so as to blame his government of not combating the garbage issue.

In a notice on Monday, he warned the said persons to desist or risk being arrested.

"It is illegal dumping garbage on roadsides, open streets, playgrounds or open places. There is an emerging trend where illegal dumping is done to sabotage my administration and to portray Nairobi as a dirty city but that won't work out. Just a few hours ago a lorry with registration No. KAC 142 Q was spotted by members of the public dumping garbage on the road," he said.

"Please be warned against such illegal acts and let us dump garbage at designated places," he added.
