A Malindi Court has adjourned the case in which Ganze MP Peter Safari and six others, are accused of embezzling Sh5.2 million meant for the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The case will now be heard on March 29 and 30, 2017, after Chief Magistrate Charles Mbogo who was handling the case, was elevated by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), to be a Judge.

Safari and his co-accused are accused of conspiring to embezzle Sh3.3 million meant for sinking and equipping Rima Ra Pera borehole between January 1 and June 30, 2015, embezzling Sh1.49 million meant for supplying plumbing and piping materials for the Malombani to Pondas Place water project, among other accusations.

"The adjournment was due to the elevation of the incumbent CM Charles Mbogo to a Judge. The case will be heard on 29th& 30th March 2017," confirmed the Director of Public Prosecutions, Monday.

They were arraigned in Court in July 2015, but were each released on Sh500,000 bond each, or Sh100,000 cash bail.
