Machakos County Deputy Governor Engineer Francis Maliti has vowed to bring a solution to the transport wrangles between Nairobi-Kangundo route Matatu Saccos representatives in Machakos to solve a crisis that has hampered transport and caused a security concern in the area.Maliti made the assurance in a meeting that comes after KAM, Makata and EBTI Saccos (which operate in the aforementioned route) accused each other of unscrupulous methods of operation, thus, beating the essence of fair competition. This is after some of these saccos obstructed others from operating at Caltex, By-pass and Kangundo stages leading to conflict. “I am glad the meeting was fruitful in finding solutions that benefit all parties. All Saccos agreed to operate in the designated stages and routes without interference and to hold a follow up meeting this coming week,” said Maliti. Maliti reiterated the county government's commitment to facilitate business as well as ensuring security to all people interested in doing business in Machakos. In attendance were MCAs Alex Kamitu (Tala), Cosmas Ngula (Matungulu East) and Mitaa (Kangundo Central)
Wrangles between the Matatu Sacco operators have led to an increase in fare for pedestrians plying through the Tala Nairobi road with security concerns being raised over the conflicting parties.
