The opening of Kiambu Mall has been pushed to December, owing to construction delays.
The Sh800 million shopping mall was set to open its doors in August.
Mugaa Investment Developers chairman Peter Burugu blames the delays on political uncertainty in the country which has slowed down the shipment of construction materials.
Construction at the site is now at its peak, as the developer targets to welcome shoppers before Christmas holidays.
“This mall is a first for Kiambu County and has set standards for future developers coming here. Our idea is to give an alternative to clients that travel to Nairobi to do shopping,” said Mr Burugu.
Botswana retailer Choppies will be the mall’s anchor tenant.
Other tenants include Java, Nairobi Hospital, Ashleys, Vivo, and Commercial Bank of Africa. The mall’s first three floors will be taken up by shops while the top most is reserved for offices.
