He says a large number of parents do not know the type of food to feed their children, and as a result, high infant mortality rate at tender ages.

He further mentioned poverty and ignorance as the major contributing factors to malnutrition in the region, which led to stunted growth and reduced immune to diseases.

Donna adds that a large number of parents do not know what type of food are rich in proteins, what are rich in carbohydrates, vitamins minerals and the rest and for those who knew, poverty hindered them from achieving that.

“It is time the county government realized we have a problem and roll out programmes that will enable them enlighten the community on nutrition discipline,” says Donna.

Campbell says he and some few individuals have tried their best in enlightening the community on the importance of hygiene and proper diet, but they have not achieved much since they are forced to do with their own resources without any support from the government.

“It is a collective duty from both the community leaders and the government and without their ascent then we can’t do much. The county government needs to address this as a problem,” added Donna.
