Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has condemned leaders and members of the public who booed Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at the funeral of Senator David Musila's mother.
Malombe, who will be defending his seat after beating Musila during primaries, has criticised the incident, terming it planned and barbaric.
The lawmaker, who spoke after a meeting where the candidates met IEBC officials at Kitui Kefri Centre on Tuesday, said that a section of leaders were to blame for what transpired at the funeral.
“The chaotic incident was planned by goons and some of them are politicians. People were strategically positioned to shout when our party leaders spoke,” he said, as quoted by The Star.
The county boss defended himself after the crowd shouted demanding the certificate Wiper had presented him, arguing that he had won the nominations fairly.
“They shouted, demanding the Wiper nomination certificate which I had won fairly,” he added.
The county boss, a close ally of former vice president, said that persons behind the act should feel ashamed.
“I condemn the uncouth behaviour by individuals and leaders who played a role in the heinous incident. They should be very much ashamed of themselves,” Malombe said.
