Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has criticized Senator David Musila’s decision to pick deputy governor Penina Malonza as his running mate ahead of the August 8 polls.

Malombe says that Musila move to pick Malonza who he dumped early this month is a desperate move.

Speaking in Kitui Town on Sunday, Malombe claimed that Musila and Malonza are political rejects who he will mercilessly beat in the August 8 polls.

He claimed that Musila is a failure adding that his decision to pick Malonza will not help him in the gubernatorial race.

“Musila and his running mate are failures who don’t have an idea of running a county government,” he said as quoted by the Star.

Malombe said that he dumped Malonza because of incompetence and poor leadership skills.

“It is laughable to see my rival Senator Musila pick someone I dumped because of her political and leadership incompetence as his running mate,” he said as quoted by the Standard.

Malombe said that Kitui people will not be swayed by Musila’s non-agenda politics.

He claimed that the senator is only interested in getting to power but has no workable agenda for the locals.

Last week Musila picked Malonza as his running mate. The governor hopeful who is contesting as an independent candidate said that Malonza is a good decision maker who will help steer the country towards economic success if he is elected.

Musila accused Malombe of dumping Malonza out of political envy.

Early this month, Malombe dumped Malonza as his deputy and settle for Kyuso KNUT Executive Secretary Agnes Kambua.

Malombe is seeking re-election on Wiper party ticket in the August 8 polls.

He, however, faces stiff competition from Senator Musila and Narc party leader Charity Ngilu who have vowed to send him packing in the August 8 polls.
