Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe has said that Former Lands Minister Charity Ngilu is not a suitable candidate to take over power from him during the forthcoming general polls. Malombe said that Ngilu has failed in different capacities in the past regimes adding that it will be a grave mistake for Kitui residents to give her the mandate to represent them as their next governor.
The outspoken governor also said Ngilu leadership has been characterized by corruption and misuse of power.
"She is totally unfit to hold any public office. Her leadership style is known for corruption and scandals, this is why she was tossed off the Jubilee government," says Governor Malombe, as quoted by Standard.
On his part, Ngilu has continued to ask the residents to back her gubernatorial bid. Ngilu believes that she is the right person to correct the mistakes Malombe has made for the last four years.
She has continued to assure residents that she will solve water problems and empower different groups once she rises to power.
"We want to have a county that is water-secure. A county that will generate wealth for her people and where youth and women will be empowered to be self-reliant," said Ngilu.
