Malombe says that claims being peddled by his rivals are false.

Speaking during a meet the people tour of Kitui South Constituency on Sunday, Malombe accused his rivals of ‘cooking’ up malicious propaganda to tarnish his reputation.

The governor said that he is not using county resources to campaign as being claimed.

“I have not used any public resource to campaign for re-election as being speculated by my rivals,” he said as quoted by the Star.

Malombe said that he will not engage in petty politics being perpetuated by his competitors.

Governor Malombe indicated that his re-election bid is pegged on the services his government has offered locals for the last four years of devolution.

“It is malicious for people to start claiming that I am using country resources to benefit myself, that is pure propaganda,” he added.

Several candidates among them former Lands Cabinet Secretary (CS) Charity Ngilu have declared interest to oust Malombe in the August 8 polls.

Wiper Party chairman who is also county senator David Musila has vowed to send Malombe packing in August accusing his administration of allegedly undermining locals by failing to provide services.

Last week a section of youth endorsed Ngilu for the top seat saying that she has the experience to address challenges facing locals.
