Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe has criticized Wiper National Elections Board for not being prepared to conduct nominations in this part of the country ahead of the August General polls, reports Star.

Despite the lack of violence in this region, Governor Julius Malombe and Senate aspirant Enoch Wambua have asked National Elections Board chairperson Agatha Solitei to come clear over the nominations after visiting Ithiani polling centre to calm the voters.

Malombe was to battle it out with Wiper Chairman David Musila for the area’s governorship before August.

Musila has been criticizing Malombe for failing to keep the pre-election pledges yet he wants to retain power come August.

The senator has promised the incumbent a bruising battle when that time comes.  On his part, Malombe has rubbished Musila’s candidature, saying he is too old to lead the people of Kitui.

According to Malombe, the senator belongs to the class of senior citizens hence he should retire from the political arena as soon as he can.

Former Lands Minister Charity Kaluki Ngilu has also announced his interest in the governorship of this region.

Ngilu has affirmed that she will restore the region’s lost glory if she is given the mandate to become the next county boss by the electorate.
