Speaking in Gikambura location in Kikuyu sub-county on Sunday, Mama Ngina said the ‘Nyumba Kumi’ concept was a good initiative by the government to 'know your neighbour'.

“Let us keep politics aside and speak about peace in this country and stop the politicking,” said Ngina.

She said ‘the know your neigbour’ initiative would make every citizen an eye against insecurity by easily identifying criminals who hide in communities.

“When we embrace Nyumba Kumi in our villages, it means we will know each other and any stranger will be easily identified and also potential criminals,” she said.

Mama Ngina was in Gikambura where she gave dry foodstuffs including beans, rice, sugar, flour and fat to the needy and old women in the area as a Christmas gift.

Also present was Kiambu women representative Annah Nyokabi and the President's advisor on agriculture James Nyoro, who all wanted to join in the festivity period by donating to the needy.

Mama Ngina's words echoed those of President Uhuru Kenyatta when he came from Abu Dhabi, where he said it was the responsibility of all Kenyans to ensure security.

He gave examples of when women were stripped and young children molested in homes, saying the police cannot be everywhere but everyone must watch against insecurity.
