According to Moi University Vice Chancellor Prof Richard Mibei, the campus will be ready and running by September this year.

Speaking on Tuesday during an inspection tour of the site where the campus will be constructed, Mibei said that the campus will start by admitting 300 students in September.

The campus to be named Mama Ngina will admit some students from Garissa University College which was closed following a terror attack in April.

“We have finalised plans of having a Moi constituent College in Gatundu South which opens in September this year,” said Mibei.

The Professor said the campus will be constructed adjacent to Raburi Girls High School in Gatundu South.

Prof Mibei said the university is geared towards establishing more campuses with the aim of boosting education.

He said that access to higher education remains a big challenge to many Kenyans.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has welcomed the idea saying it’s the first step towards development.

He lauded the move by the university saying that it will get all the necessary support needed.

The MP asked other institutions to establish branches in the constituency so that people can have easy access to services.
