Police in Masaba North sub-county are investigating an incident where a 26-year-old man is alleged to have killed his grandfather in Rikenye location, Nyamira County.
The suspect, Hezekiah Gekonge, is alleged to have killed Samuel Magama Nyanumba, 61, Tuesday evening when they disagreed over a lost phone after a drinking spree.
According to Nyamira County police Commander Titus Ndung'u, the suspect went to Keroka police station on Wednesday morning and told them that he had an intent of committing murder but was locked up in a cell to allow the police launch investigations.
But before long, added Ndung'u, a neighbour came to the same police station to inform them about Magama's death whose body was found in his grandson's house.
He said the body had a deep cut on the head.
The police boss added that the two were last seen drinking together on Monday night at a pub in Keroka town.
However, a neighbour who did not want to be named said the deceased claimed that his grandson had stolen his mobile phone and had gone to look for it before he met his death.
