A 50-year-old man from Kavumbu area in Matungulu sub-county, Machakos County was arrested on Saturday morning for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl.
Confirming the incident, Katheka sub-location sub-chief Simon Muthengi said the suspect waylaid the class three pupil on her way home and defiled her.
Muthengi said the suspect who was identified as Mambo Muindi, is being held at Kinyui police station while police conduct investigations.
The victim was treated at Kangundo Level Four Hospital.
Muthengi said no person will be allowed to mess up with children's lives as the long arm of law will deal with those found culpable.
He also warned residents not to accept defilement cases be solved outside the court as the action denies the victims justice .
The suspect will be arraigned in court on Monday to face defilement charges.
