Photo: Haramo Ali/ hivisasa.comA Mombasa court has sentenced a 63-year-old man to 30 years in jail for defiling his granddaughter. Onesmus Mwadime will serve his sentence at the Shimo la Tewa maximum prison after he pleaded guilty to the charges.Mwadime on Wednesday told the court that he committed the crime when he was drunk and pleaded for forgiveness.“I shared the bed with my granddaughter, I was drunk and that is the reason that made me defile her,” said Mwadime, as quoted by Baraka FM.In his ruling, Mombasa Senior Resident Magistrate Edigah Kagoni said the accused caused harm to his grandchild instead of taking good care of her.“I therefore sentence the accused person to 30 years imprisonment, and you have a right to appeal within 14 days,” ruled Kagoni, as quoted by the daily.
