Shock gripped the faithfuls of Christian Mission Fellowship church in Ziwa, Uasin Gishu county on Sunday when a youthful man accidentally offered a condom as an offering.
The man who will remain anonymous because of the shame of the incident pulled out a condom from his jacket pocket only to realize he had blundered.
Kibe, who is a member of the church said the man had condoms and money in notes in his pockets but when he wanted to pull out the money as an offering, he accidentally removed what he had not intended.
"In my church, offering is offered one at a time. It was the mans' turn to place his offering at the collection box only to remove the contraceptive to the shock and shame of other faithfuls," narrated Kibe in disbelief.
The man is said to have immediately put back the condom into the pocket but it was already too late as nearly the whole congregation had witnessed the rare occurrence. The congregation bust into laughter as others looked down in shame.
"Most of the people laughed hysterically until tears rolled down in their cheeks while others mainly the old, looked down ashamed," said another faithful.
As the service came to an end, the man pleaded for forgiveness from the church members he sat close to for causing embarrassment to them and asked for prayers. He said the incident could make him be traumatized.
The pastor prayed for him and asked the congregation not to speak ill of the matter as he was only human who is bound to making mistakes.
