Police in Thika are holding a man accused of defiling a minor.
John Murage, 45, allegedly defiled the 14-year-old girl in Thika town as the girl's parents were away.
Confirming the incidence, Thika OCPD Erastus Muthamia said the suspect will be arraigned in court after police have conducted investigations.
"We have launched investigations into the case and we will arraign the suspect in court once investigations are through," said Mr Muthamia.
Speaking on Thursday to journalists at Thika Police Station, Mr Muthamia warned those with tendencies of defiling minors that they will be dealt with accordingly.
"Those perpetrating defilement will not be spared."
He called on parents to monitor their children during the festive season.
"Parents should monitor their children to prevent the from becoming victims of rape."
He asked Thika residents to work with law enforcers to help contain criminality in the area.
