A 54-year-old white man from Mirera in Naivasha has been accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl last week.
According to children's rights activist and nominated MCA Esther Njeri Magiri, the doctor's report confirmed that the minor was defiled.
“The child was defiled and we have recorded a statement with the police because it seems the family is freaking out but I will assure them that justice will prevail,” she said when contacted over the matter on Tuesday.
The minor said she was taken to the man's house by her friend (name withheld). It was after she got into the house that she was served with coffee and later told to undress and head to the bedroom where she was defiled.
“I was sent away from school for outstanding fees arrears and I met my friend, who told me she would take me to the mzungu. We went and he gave me coffee and told me to undress and go to the bedroom where he defiled me,” she said at a past interview with the press.
MCA Njeri said police have launched investigations into the matter and no level of intimidation to the minor's family will pervert the course of justice.
“Investigations are ongoing as police have said, and I will ensure justice prevails because that was wrong,” she added.
Cases of children being sexually assaulted have been on the rise in the area. Three weeks ago, a 12-year-old girl was defiled in Kiamaina.
The suspect has since been arraigned in court.
