A middle-aged man accused of impregnating his 17-year step-daughter was this Tuesday denied bail by a Nakuru court.

Charles Kipng’eno was facing charges committing the crime on diverse dates between 1st and 30th July this year at his residence in Kapkures estate in Nakuru County.

State Counsel Hillary Songoyo informed the court that the accused called the minor into his room and slept with her several times within the course of that month while her mother was away.

He added that the minor later informed her mother that she was pregnant and it was her father who was responsible, something that prompted the mother to report the incident to police upon which the accused was arrested.

Standing before Chief Magistrate David Kemei, the accused however denied raping the daughter.

He was denied bond after the prosecution urged the court to detain him saying the accused might interference with the case since the witness was a member of his family.

The case will next be mentioned on August 29, 2016.
