A Nairobi-based lawyer on Thursday failed to appear before a Nyeri court in a case in which he is charged with selling three prohibited guns and to businessman Jimi Wanjigi.
Mr Memba Muriuki is also accused of selling 100 bullets to Wanjigi.
Muriuki had been summoned before Nyeri Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo, but his lawyer, a Mr Kaberia, told the court that the criminal proceedings had been stopped by a High Court in Nairobi.
Kagendo told the court that orders prohibiting his prosecution were issued by Justice Roselyn Aburili.
In the orders, the Inspector-General of Police, Director of Public Prosecutions and the Nyeri chief magistrate had been directed to suspend proceedings or plea taking until further directives.
Justice Aburili allowed Mr Muriuki to file a judicial review application in which he is opposing his prosecution.
He is accused of selling guns and bullets to Mr Wanjigi on October 17, 2013 and on August 12, 2014.
The prosecution has lined up six witnesses in the case.
