A middle age man from Nyankongo Village in Kisii County has accused his brother of allegedly taking advantage of his long absence and grabbing his ancestral land.
Michael Nyachwaya 51 on Tuesday said that his younger brother, Wilson Nyachwaya grabbed his two hectares of land following his long absence from home.
“I left home in early 90s to venture into farming in Kitale. Since then, I have always told him to take care of the land by developing it till my family returned, unfortunately he has done the unacceptable by taking it forever,” said Nyachwaya.
According to him, his brother partitioned his land without his consent and against their agreement moments before his departure to Kitale.
“It is evident that he partitioned my land into two and illegally made one portion his. He has since acquired a title deed for it and I do not know what to do,” claimed Nyachwaya.
However, the accused denied the allegations and blamed the complainant of short memory and inconsistent in remembering.
“As far as I know, he has not been here for long that is why he is not accurate in what he is saying. In fact his land is intact as you can see the abandoned house still remains were it used to be,” said the accused brother.
Area Chief Walter Mong’are asked the two to seek intervention from the elders before the situation escalates.
