A man accused of being part of a gang that raped a minor on Tuesday confessed before an Eldoret court that he was part of the gang that committed the heinous act on a minor.
The court heard that the suspect identified as Dennis Muhati with others, not before the court defiled a girl aged 16 years on February 17, 2018, at Makokha village in Kongoni area, Likuyani Sub County.
The suspect pleaded guilty to the defilement charge when he appeared before Eldoret Principal Magistrate Harrison Barasa.
The suspect, however, told the court that he was under the influence of his friends when he committed the act.
He asked the court to release him on bond but the prosecution opposed the bond application citing that the suspect may skip court hearings.
Barasa ordered the suspect to be remanded until February 23 when the case will be mentioned.
