A middle-aged-man is fighting for his life at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital after he took poison following a heated argument with his wife.
The man identified as Evans Moindi took the poison after his wife turned down his proposal to sell their only motorbike.
The incident happened in Getare area within Kisii town on Monday.
“He wanted to sell our only motorbike and use the money to secure a job in Nairobi. I refused because this is not the first time he is selling family property,” said the man’s wife known as Phillis.
She said the man tried to set their house ablaze but he didn’t manage because area Nyumba Kumi officials stormed the compound and arrested him.
The woman said that the motorbike is the only source of income in the family.
Fidelis Obangi one of the Nyumba Kumi officials said the man decided to take the poison as he compalined that his wife disrespected him.
He asked young couples to stop selling their property without proper plans.
