A man was arraigned in a Nakuru court on Thursday for defiling and sodomizing five children. Cyrus Orina, 35, was accused of allegedly defiling a 10 and 12 years old girls on diverse dates of March and June in Kaptembwa estate within Nakuru County.
In the same charge, he faced three other accounts of sodomizing three boys aged 13, 11, and 11 respectively. According to the police, Orina lured the children by giving them tea with drug them. The children were taken to Rift valley district hospital for checkup.
He was arrested on Tuesday night in his house after the parents of the children reported the incident to the police, he was arrested and taken to Kaptembwa police station. Chief Inspector, Sirorei Rop said the court must be given time to make the officers investigating to prepare relevant report and thus remand the accused.
“We have not receive the prevailing report to be made by the relevant officers, we prayed for the court to give prosecution ample time in order for the investigating officers to prepare a report on the seriousness of the offense,” he said
Orina prayed to the court to give a reasonable cash bail pending investigations by the police.
“I prayed that the court gives me an affordable cash bail so that we can do the investigations will am out of custody,” he said
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Joel Ngeno, he denied the charges and the court ordered him to be remanded.
Ngeno said that he should be remanded because his life was at risk from the members of the public and he is also a danger to other children
“It’s for your own good that you be remanded, the people outside there can kill you or harm you,” he said
The case will be mentioned on August 3 and heard on August 5.
