The case against a man who stole avocadoes will be heard on November 20.
30-year-old Patrick Mwangi has been charged at a Thika Court for stealing the avocadoes worthy Sh10,000 belonging to Ziporrah Karanja. He is accused of committing the offence at Ngere Village on September 25 this year.
Mwangi denied the charges before magistrate CA Muchoki and was remanded at the Thika Prison since he was unable to raise Sh30,000 bond.
The plaintiff said: “The man was caught by other villagers while carrying the bags on his bicycle and when asked, he told them that he had bought them from a certain man. Since I had informed other villagers that my avocadoes had been stolen, the villagers asked the man to take them where he had bought them.”
Karanja added, “When he knew that things were wrong, he tried to run away but he was caught and taken to the police.”
Justice Muchoki dismissed the accused’s pleas for a reduced bond.
Mwangi had said that he was a small businessman who could not afford to raise that bond.
