A middle-aged man was arraigned in a Thika court on Friday, accused of swindling milk and ghee from his employee.
Emmanuel Mbithi, 32, who appeared before principal magistrate Martha Mutuku allegedly defrauded Brookside dairy limited goods valued at Sh170,710, contrary to section 28 (1) of penal code.
The prosecution told the court that the accused committed the crime on diverse dates of January 27 2014 and February 2014 at Brookside diary limited in Ruiru, Kiambu County jointly with others who were not before court being servants to Brookside diary limited.
The court heard that they allegedly stole 24000 cartoons of milk and 135kg of ghee, the property of Brookside dairy limited, which came into their possession by virtue of employment.
The accused was arrested and remanded at Ruiru police station March 6 this year, after eye witness Jeremiah Nyaikuru allegedly got him in the act, parking a carton of milk in a paper bag ready to leave.
He was suspected to be robbing company goods, and was arraigned before court to answer to charges against him.
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charges, and was released on a Sh300,000 bond, with the hearing slated April 27 this year.
