Police in-charge of Teachers police post Mercy Musyoka while confirming the incident said that Paul Mwaura, adamantly detained her sister Susan Mwaura in their parents’ house after they disagreed over the sharing of money left behind by their mother who had traveled to seek medical attention in Nairobi the previous day.

Speaking to our reporter, the police officer said that the siblings, who live with their mother in the family’s home disagreed over an amount of Sh2,000 left behind by their mother to cater for food expenses.

The police officer said that the brother had demanded for Sh1000 as his share but his sister declined arguing that he would spend the money on alcohol and still demand for food.

“He locked the house outside doors with two padlocks and went away while her sister was still asleep and went with keys,” said Musyoka.

“He later came back drunk and asked her sister to hand over the money to him through the window for her to gain freedom,’’ added Musyoka.

According to the officer,  the sister called her friends who reported the matter to the police and helped trace the accused from a chang’aa den near the estate after about eight hours.
