A 50-year-old man from Kapsongoi Village, Turbo constituency in Uasin Gishu County was on Monday arrested for allegedly raping his 5-year-old daughter and thereafter killing her.

Confirming the incident, Eldoret West OCPD Samuel Mtunga said the suspect was arrested and taken to Eldoret Police Station and will be arraigned in court soon. 

The body of the deceased was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital awaiting postmortem. 

According to eye witnesses, the man executed the heinous act after quarreling with his wife, who left him with his daughter and their seven year old son.

"We suspect this was due to his drinking habit. We were saddened when we got the body of the girl lying in the farm," said an eye witness.
