A middle aged man is being held at Nyakoe police station for being in possession of bhang.
The suspect identified only as Mogaka was arrested at his house on Thursday evening in Raganga village Bogusero ward, Kitutu Chache South constituency Kisii County.
Bogusero sub-location assistant chief Simon Mbwayo confirmed the incident and said members of the public tipped Nyumba Kumi officials who alerted him.
“We arrested the suspect at his house where we recovered several rolls of bhang under his bed. The law will not allow anyone to engage in illegal dealings.
"Cases of bhang smoking and selling have been on the rise in the region and I am warning locals against growing, smoking and selling bhang,” he said.
Mbwayo lauded members of the public for efforts to end bhang business in the area.
The local administrator said the suspect was taken to Nyakoe police station where he is currently being held.
"Mogaka is in custody at Nyakoe police station and will be taken to court for being in possession of bhang,” he added.
