Thika West police boss Peter Nzimbi confirmed the arrest and said the suspect Samwel Nzuki divorced his wife of years towards the end of 2017 and he was left with the daughters.

"Neighbors reported the incident to Kiandutu police post after the girls revealed to them on how their father has been defiling them when he gets home late at night. Police acted immediately on Saturday and arrested the man. The suspect is currently being held at Kiandutu police station," he said.

He assured that the suspect will be arraigned in court on Wednesday to be charged with rape.

Children Welfare Officer Harrison Macharia said the two girls were taken Thika level 5 Hospital for treatment and later taken to a Child rescue center.

"Cases of child abuse are on the rise in the Kiandutu slums. Parents should respect the girl child failure to which they will be arrested and prosecuted," said Macharia.

Macharia urged women when they separate with their husbands not to leave the girls with men who may end up ruining their lives.

"It is a big shame for men to take advantage of minors to harass them sexually. The law will not spare such criminals who belong to jail," added Macharia.
