Police in Nairobi are detaining a man claimed to have defiled four children on diverse dates in Kibera slums.
One of the children is said to be admitted at a city hospital nursing injuries she sustained after the criminal act.
The suspect was arrested by neighbours and taken to the Kilimani Police Station after allegedly defiled the 11-year-old girl.
Detectives from Kilimani police station probing the incidents said they are investigating the suspect's motive as well as establish if there are more victims in the informal settlement.
The children who are reported to have been defiled are aged 5, 7, 8 and 11.
The man is being in Kilimani as police conduct more investigations into the defilement reports.
According to the suspect's neighbour, Alex Ojwang', the soft-spoken man whose identity police have concealed for the period of investigations might have taken advantage of his jolliness to lure the children into the un-consented sexual encounters.
"The girl reported the matter to her colleagues. Her friends alerted her parents," Ojwang' said.
Police said anyone with information that may help in the man's successful prosecution should volunteer.
Detectives said the 11-year-old girl is undergoing medical examinations.
The arrest comes two weeks after another suspect was arrested at Kibera's Olympic area after being accused of sodomizing a class six boy.
