A man in Nyamira was on Saturday arrested for growing bhang in his homestead.
The suspect, Erick Maroko aged 28 was also found in possession of bhang that he had harvested and stored in his house.
Residents who tipped the police said the suspect was not allowing anyone to enter his firmly fenced compound.
Charles Ondieki, the area Chief said Maroko was a boda-boda rider before he ventured into the illegal business.
He said police officers took hours before they entered the compound to arrest the suspect and uproot the drug.
Nyamira OCS Alex Mumo urged residents to avoid illegal dealings which will bring them trouble.
"This business is illegal and the government won't allow anyone venture into it", Mumo said.
Monicah Kang'ethe, Nyamira deputy county commissioner thanked area residents and Nyumba Kumi members for giving the information to police.
The commissioner said the suspect uses electricity to dry bhang leaves and he had packed some in bags ready for transportation.
She assured that the suspect will be taken to court on Monday.
