Police officers in Nyamira North Sub County on Saturday arrested a middle aged man for allegedly hacking his wife to death.
It is alleged that the suspect, Osoro Omwansa, arrived at home midnight drunk and brutally murdered his 29-year-old wife, Emily Sokoro.
Area police boss James Musyimi confirmed the incident and said the suspect hit the victim with a blunt object several times on the head before he killed her.
“The suspect hit the deceased with a blunt object on the head and killed her instantly. Neighbors who heard the commotion reported the incident to police who arrived at the homestead and found the woman dead in bed,” said Musyimi.
The police boss urged married couples to stop taking the law into their hands when they disagree in marriage.
“Married couples should seek spiritual advice to solve any differences in marriage. Anyone taking the law into his or her hands will not be spared by the law,” he added.
Musyimi said the suspect is currently held at Nyamira police station waiting to be charged with murder.
He said the deceased body was moved to Nyamira County hospital mortuary.
