A man has been arrested and charged for marrying a second wife.

 The accused Abdulaziz Mohammed Abdul entered another marriage with a second wife while still being married to the first in November of 2010.

Abdul was arraigned at a court in Nairobi but pleaded not guilty to the crime. If found guilty, he could be looking at facing a maximum of one year in prison.

According to reports, Abdul chose to marry Wahida Nuhr Mohammed in an Islamic marriage while still legally being married to one Priti Khimji Vadgama.

The accused may also face assault charges against his first wife once the charges are ready.

However, Abdul denied the claims before before Milimani court Senior resident magistrate Christine Njagi before being released on Sh50,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh30,000.

The case is set for a hearing on November 20, 2017.
