A 30 year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 7 year-old daughter, repeatedly in Ngelani location, Kangundo Sub County in Machakos County.
According to Ngelani area assistant chief Martin Mumbe, he acted following hints from the neighbours on Friday evening.
“We have been given information by neighbours that the child was at a neighbours home where she has been sleeping in a drum fearing that her father would hurt her. We have arrested the father together with the mother with the help of Nyumba Kumi initiative officers,” said Mumbe.
The chief explained that the reason behind arresting the mother was that she was an accomplice because she was already sleeping without caring where her nursery school child was.
“I don’t understand how a parent spent hours without knowing where their child is unless she knows what has been happening to her,” he said.
The accused have been taken to Machakos police station for further investigation, pending being arraigned in court on Monday.
The girl was on Friday evening rushed to Machakos level 5 Hospital for treatment and medical check-up to legally verify the allegations.
