Silas Ochieng’ was on Thursday caught by health officers at Rongo Slaughterhouse butchering a dead cow. He also, allegedly, had with him a fake livestock stamp.

According to the Rongo Public Health Officer, Charles Abuoro, they found the suspect slaughtering the cow without following the required procedure which raised an alarm.

“This is illegal and we will take necessary action for the suspects,” he said.

He said that he decided to interview him and asked for the documents and he produced a document which had a fake rubberstamp from the livestock veterinary.

The suspect said that he bought the cow from Charles Obuogo Okoro and did not quote the veterinary officer who gave him the document.

Rongo OCPD Thomas C. Ngeiywa said the two men have been arrested and will be arraigned in court.

He added that they are still trying to allocate the livestock veterinary who stamped the document.
