The culprit is a well-known notorious resident, and through a hint from his neighbours on the time he prepares his illegal products, the officers launched an ambush and stormed his house, finding him red-handed.

Kyaume location assistant chief Francis Mulinge confirmed the incident, stating that he had personally warned the young man severally against illegal businesses, but he always denied being involved in such activities.

“We stormed his house at night around 10pm where we found him rolling 40 rolls of bhang and a stone of the same, which we believe he was intending to sell tomorrow to the public. It is against the law and I had warned him together with other young men but the hand of the law has finally caught him,” said Mulinge.

The chief further called upon the youth from Kyaume to desist from drug abuse, as it causes irreversible damage not only to their own lives, but to the society too.

“Many young people around are idle and have instead turned to drug abuse and drug peddling. Instead of engaging in illegal activities, I urge them to settle down and start businesses that will better their living standards,” he added.

The man was taken to Tala police post waiting to be arraigned in court.
