A 34 year old man escaped death after he was mercilessly attacked by irate residents for allegedly raping 90-year-old man in Ziwane village, Garissa County
He was however rescued by police officers from Ziwane police post as the public was threatening to lynch him.
The man, who was allegedly drank, broke into the hose of granny on Monday at around 6 pm and commited the heinous crime.
According to the eyewitness, they heard fading screams coming from the old woman’s house and when they responded, they found the man in the act.
The eyewitness alerted other neighbors where the man was cornered and mercilessly beaten using heavy objects before the police came to rescue him.
The man was arrested and taken to Garissa District Hospital where he is nursing serious injuries and he is expected to be arraigned in court.
