Joseph Onyango ran wild on Saturday after his wife left him and went to her aunt at Nyatike sub-county.

According to a witness, Deo Mola, the angry man went to the homestead and insisted he wanted his wife back.

All hell broke loose when his in-laws threatened to evict him forcefully.

“The man was threatened to be ejected forcefully from the homestead [and] that’s the time he ran and entered a granary in the compound," the witness said.

"The enraged man later took a sharp panga in the granary and started cutting off his neck, threatening to commit suicide. Villagers who arrived at the scene managed to tilt the granary and removed him after he became unconscious from profuse bleeding,” said Mola.

Confirming the incident Amoyo sub-location public administrator Lillian Dola said the man was rushed to Migori level four hospital where after regaining consciousness, he reportedly attacked health workers before jumping off the fence and running away.

Dola now appeals to the residents to help locate him as they are afraid he might be having a mental illness.

“He doesn’t seem normal and we are urging people who spot him to report to us,” said Dola.
